After a controversial end to the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix which saw Max Verstappen take his 5th win in a row, followed by Charles Leclerc in second and George Russel in third, as well as a spectacular debut drive from Nyck De Vries who was filling in for Alex Albon this weekend; finishing in 9th and getting 2 championship points. An album to help unwind and defocus from racing is the fourth studio album from AS IT IS, I WENT TO HELL AND BACK.

Heres a track-by-track breakdown of the album, with each song being ranked from p.1 to p.14. *TRACKS ARE LISTED IN ALBUM ORDER*
IDGAF - p.5

IDGAF has a building start to it with strong lyrics that quieten before the chorus and are then repeated heavier and in a screamed style. The instrumentals in the song build over time then strip back to nothing towards the end before everything is added back in suddenly to finish the song strong. Overall IDGAF is one of the heavier songs on the album.
I LIE TO ME - p.10

I LIE TO ME starts of on a quieter note before building vocals and instrumentals to add weight to the song without adding volume. Overall the song is able to convey a lot of emotion through the lyrics and sound and sounds calm but still energetic under the surface.
ILY, HOW ARE YOU? - p.11

ILY, HOW ARE YOU? is a one of the softer songs on the album and has a main focus on lyrics and vocals rather than instrumentals. The instrumentals throughout the song remain consistent and largely unchanged only being stripped down and re-added after the vocals are stripped and then returned.
IDC, I CAN'T TAKE IT - p.7

IDC, I CAN'T TAKE IT starts off with softer instrumentals and vocals and while the instrumentals do build overtime the vocals remain soft, only building for the chorus. There is a rough edge to the vocals particular in the pre and post chorus, although when the instrumentals get stripped back towards the end the vocals are soft and rounded for a spoken section.
I'D RATHER DIE - p.14

I'D RATHER DIE is one of the softer songs on the album with sad lyrics and upbeat backing instrumentals. The vocals do sound slightly monotonous which leaves the song sounded a bit repetitive and lacklustre, however the vocal style does suit the sound and theme of the song.
I MISS 2003 - p.9

I MISS 2003 starts off fairly soft and has a gradual build to the chorus before stripping back post-chorus and building to strip and build again. After the last strip only the vocals are added back in with a simple beat before the full instrumentals are added back in. Overall the song has a nice sound and is an upbeat instrumental with not so upbeat lyrics.
I'M SICK AND TIRED - p.13

I'M SICK AND TIRED starts with a solid beat and solid vocals with the instrumentals and vocals building for the chorus before returning to the tracks original theme and building again. Overall the sound does get a bit repetitive with both the vocal and instrumental sounds.
I WANT TO SEE GOD - p.8

I WANT TO SEE GOD is one of the heavier songs on the album and starts off strong and heavy. For most of the song the lyrics are semi-screamed semi-sung, except for the chorus where the lyrics are much softer before then being repeated in the screaming style. There is a point towards the end of the song where the instrumentals and vocals are stripped back then return to the original heaviness.
IN THREES - p.3

IN THREES is one of two songs on the album to be made with other artists, with Set It Off and JordyPurp being included in the song; but not just as featuring artists. The song starts off slow and soft and builds strength in the sound towards the chorus without getting fast, heavy or loud. The voices of Patty, from AS IT IS, and Cody, from Set It Off, pair together extremely well and the mix of JordyPurp's voice complements the blend of the other two.
I HATE ME TOO - p.1

I HATE ME TOO starts strong and fast and gets heavier towards the chorus, but maintains the softness of the vocals. The main build in the song is towards the last chorus before settling down again. Overall the song is immersive for a listener and carries all the right emotions from beginning to end.
I'M GONE - p.6

I'M GONE is fast paced and begins with a strong drumbeat before strong, slightly screamed, vocals are added in. The song carries a moving energy from start to finish and doesn't feel stagnant at any point in the track, this makes for a nicer listening experience and is easier to immerse into.
I DIE 1000x - p.12

I DIE 1000x is softer and slightly slower than most songs on this album, but that aids in its ability to carry raw emotion throughout the duration of the song. Overall the song has a consistent noticeable beat with only a slight instrumental build during the song.
I CAN'T FEEL A THING - p.2

I CAN'T FEEL A THING is the second song of the album to be made with another artist, this being The Word Alive. The beginning of the song features a quick build of instrumentals and vocals before stripping both back and reintroducing them, then stripping them again slightly towards the end. Overall it has a strong sound and makes for an immersive song to listen to.
I WENT TO HELL AND BACK - p.4

I WENT TO HELL AND BACK starts soft and slightly slowed and maintains the softness of instrumentals and vocals while building emotion and slight speed. Overall this title track manages to perfectly capture the emotions of the album and convey them to the listener throughout the sounds of the song.
